MetaMask Snaps to let users interact with Solana DApps through Solflare

Solana wallet provider Solflare has integrated MetaMask Snaps to allow MetaMask users to manage their Solana portfolio directly from the crypto wallet.

The integration aims to reduce the barriers to entry and usage of the Solana blockchain. Using MetaMask Snaps, Solflare enables MetaMask users to interact with various decentralized applications (DApps) within the Solana ecosystem.

The co-founder of Solflare, Filip Dragoslavic, believes that the friction of installing new wallets has deterred many potential Solana users. He hopes that this integration will introduce the largest user base in Web3 to try Solana and witness its benefits.

This collaboration with MetaMask Snaps, which extends the functionality of the Web3 wallet, allows for a more seamless user experience in onboarding MetaMask users to Solana DApps, according to Christian Montoya, the product lead at MetaMask Snaps.

The highly anticipated MetaMask Snaps enables users to interact with different blockchain networks. ConsenSys head of strategy Simon Morris described Snaps as an “Apple App Store” for MetaMask, allowing third-party developers to launch DApps called “Snaps.”

Furthermore, this integration enables users to manage SOL, Solana Program Library tokens, and nonfungible tokens through MetaMask. Existing MetaMask users can integrate their wallets across Ethereum and other Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains with the Solana blockchain.

While Solana requires specific wallets like Solflare due to its unique infrastructure, this new feature allows users to manage their interactions with Solana through MetaMask.

To connect with Solana, MetaMask users need to either visit Solflare’s website or connect their wallet to any Solana application. After the installation process, users can bridge their EVM assets into Solana.
